Why an amendment record
Add a radio, pull an old ELT, swap a prop, reupholster the seats — the aircraft’s empty weight and CG changed, and the weight-and-balance record on file needs to change with it.

Questions
No. For a certified aircraft, TrimSheet produces the amendment sheet — the recomputed empty weight, CG, and equipment list — that your IA or shop reviews and signs into your records. For an experimental, you're the one who signs your own W&B record, and TrimSheet is the sheet you keep.
No. TrimSheet computes the new weight and balance and lays out the amendment record. It doesn't submit anything to the FAA or generate a federal form.
Yes. The free tier keeps your one aircraft in your browser; Pro accounts store your history so it's there next time you open it. We don't sell or share it.

A per-flight W&B app like ForeFlight computes today's load against your aircraft's CURRENT empty weight and CG — it doesn't produce the amendment record itself. A spreadsheet can do the same arithmetic, but it's easy to fat-finger a transposition and there's nothing that stamps a dated, signable record of what changed. TrimSheet is specifically for the moment equipment changes: an updated equipment list, the new empty weight and CG, and a record laid out to be signed into your aircraft's permanent file.
